Equally important to the canine educational process are programs for dog owners. We will bring you the latest information on health and safety issues as they pertain to you, your dog and living together in the city.

CLASS DESCRIPTIONS

Puppy ABC’s


For puppies up to 8-14 months old of age. 4 Week Course You will learn how to interpret your puppy’s behavior, work on socializing with other puppies, house training, biting and crate training. You will also learn how to teach your puppy basic commands like sit, stay and come using positive reinforcement techniques that will be fun in the process. Classes are limited to 6 puppies, are one hour long and last four weeks.

Basic Behavior


For all dogs 5 week 18 weeks and older. This class will teach you how to train your dog to practice basic behaviors such as sit, down, stay, come, walking on lead, and more. Positive reinforcement techniques will introduce the use of clickers. Classes are limited to 6 dogs, are one hour long and last five weeks. The first class is an owner-only orientation.

Mini Consultations


A 45-minute one-on-one session with Mick at The Houndry to discuss issues you may be experiencing with your pet. Topics may range from pulling on lead to separation anxiety and more. At the conclusion you will receive behavioral handouts pertaining to your session. Mini consultations will not be used for cases of aggression, which require full in-home consultations.

Private In-Home Manners Training


Private one-on-one training in your home to teach basic manners, including sit, down, stay, walking on lead, not jumping, etc. Training sessions last one hour and are tailored to meet your pet’s specific needs.
$175 — 1.5-hour session
$250 — 3 one-hour sessions

 

In-Home Behavior Consultation


An in-home evaluation of your pet that provides a tailored program with practical solutions for your specific behavioral concerns. You will receive a written report detailing the session along with reference materials and a follow up call two weeks after the consultation.
$175 — 1.5 to 2-hours consultation
$270 — One 2-hour consultation with a follow-up visit

 

TERMS

 

All clients must submit a completed application along with proof of vaccination for their dog. Clients must be 18 years of age or older. Applications and payment in full are due at the time of registration. Because class sizes are small, space is limited and offered on a first-come, first-served basis. Cancellations must be made at least ONE WEEK prior to the start date of your class. No refunds will be issued for cancellations made less than one week before the start of your class. In the event a class should be cancelled, registrants will receive a full refund or the option of applying credit towards a different class or training service.

Group classes are not for aggressive dogs. Owners of aggressive dogs are encouraged to consider one-on-one in-home consultations. The Houndry and Mick McAuliffe reserve final discretion on determining acceptable temperaments.  

Reservations will not be guaranteed until all of the above terms are met.
